The Ophthalmic Viscosurgical Device (DVD) - Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) Ophthalmic Solution - is a sterile, isotonic, viscoelastic solution of highly purified, non inflammatory Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) with a high molecular weight. The solution is prepared by dissolving HPMC powder in aqueous, isotonic solution. The molecular weight of the material is Min 80000 dalton. The pH range of the solution is maintained at 6.8-7.6.
